The Cost Of Quality
As a bridal dressmaker, I approach my work with creativity, insight and skills. This is the value I bring to your dress. My aim as a dressmaker is not to serve everyone, but to serve the right people who will value and appreciate my craft.
Many people think that just because it’s a ‘small’ alteration, such as shortening the hem, it’s simple and therefore, cannot possibly cost that much.
What Is Simple May Not Be Easy
However, what is simple is often not easy, and that is very true with quality bridal alterations. It is labour-intensive work. There are layers upon layers of material and very delicate lace with beads that takes hours just to unpick. And after all the alterations are done, it has to be carefully sewn back on.
My work starts from the time you put on your wedding dress and I start the fitting and pinning process. That can sometimes take up to 1 hour or more. And no alterations has even been done to the wedding dress at that point.
I take pride in my service, my design and craftsmanship. I will do my very best to achieve what you want in a dream wedding dress, and I will do it to the best of my ability. I do not rush, I will not cut corners, and I cannot compete with others on price.
The Cost of Quality Bridal Alterations
Quality comes at a cost. To you, the cost to have your bridal alterations done is the money you part with. To me, if I do the bridal alterations well, the cost is my time, my patience, my expertise, my experience. If I don’t do it well, the cost is my reputation. Either way, the cost to me is high. I cannot afford to sacrifice quality for price.
So, if the cost of your bridal alterations is your number one concern, then I am not the dressmaker for you.
Just as my customers choose me, I have the right also to choose the customers who value my work and the service I provide.
And I am so very thankful that the brides who come to me are ones who value my work, as can be seen on my Facebook page or here.
